BizTalk Server futures–Presentations from TechEd North America

I have already relayed this information to so many, and given the links to more, that I though I’d put them up here for easy access. There is much and more to be written about the content, but I’ll settle for this. Information has been available around BizTalk Server 2010 R2 for some time, but it got much more real and saw some things unveiled not previously mentioned or detailed. In short:

TechDays 2012–The Microsoft Integration Story

At TechDays 2012 in Sweden we did a presentation called “The Microsoft Integration Strategy” (or Story), something that we have done in variations for BizTalk User Group Sweden and other events.

I am delighted to have gotten back the review which puts the session in the top 10 sessions (7th). Glad you liked it. The presentation slides are here (as a pdf). I’ll be happy to share the pptx if you want it, just ask (It keeps me up to date with other interesting presenters and events). The video should be available shortly (in Swedish though). The video is available here.

Integration @ Sommarkollo 2011

So, once again it’s that time of the year. Summer. And with it Microsoft Sweden arranges a series of presentations across the country that goes under what word-by-word translates to summer school – Sommarkollo. I’m happy to be presenting about integration in the broad context of the Microsoft Application Infrastructure aka Middleware platform, aka BizTalk Server, Windows Server AppFabric and Windows Azure AppFabric. A lot of the content will be focused around Azure AppFabric, simply because that’s where most things are happening at the moment (1) (2).

Find the signup to my afternoon slot in Gothenburg on Tuesday the 28th of June here, and the same content in a morning slot in Stockholm on Thursday the 30th of June here.

Right now I’m at ~60 slides and 12 demos but I’m hoping to get access to the newly released Application Manager and Composition soon so I have time to incorporate some of that as well. We’ll see.

Also take a look at the pdf that nicely summarizes all available sessions.

See you there.

My TechDays 2011 presentations – something old, something borrowed, something new and something blue

This is bordering on being somewhat old news (but don’t blame me for that). I attended the Swedish TechDays as a speaker, user group leader and ask the experts answerer. Now as far as the first one goes my two sessions “Windows Azure AppFabric – Middleware i molnet” (Middleware in the cloud) and “.NET utvecklare – utöka verktygslådan med BizTalk Server” (expand your toolkit with BizTalk Server) are now available online (unfortunately there is no direct links since they are hidden away inside a Silverlight player application). However note that they are in Swedish. My presentation slides should be available alongside them shortly, and those are (at least mostly) in English. I’ll give you a preview…

BizTalk for NET Devs 1BizTalk for NET Devs 2

The site makes those available as pdf’s. If you ask me nicely though, I might let you get your hands on the pptx’s 😉 I am however not shy to borrow from previous presentations held by Microsoft or other luminaries if those are made available online an encouraged to be (re-)used. And since I have been doing BizTalk presentations for quite some time I do have some of my my favorite slides in there, so if you have seen a presentation by me before, chances are you will recognize a slide or two, even if most of what I communicate is still new. Thus you will find “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” (since the theme for this years TechDays was blue on a black background). Enjoy.

Travel: MVP Summit 2011 and Canada, or why you should never make the mistake to tell Customs you are there for business (unless you REALLY are)

While travelling to MVP Summit me and Mikael took the opportunity to visit our friend and fellow BizTalk MVP Kent Weare. This also saw us participating in a mini-BizTalk conference delivering sessions to Kent’s company. See Kent’s post here.

The presentations were “complementary”, which did not go down well with customs since I had the bad judgment of putting down business and personal as my reason for the trip (and since I was going on to MVP summit which is on that fine line between business and personal as well). It’s the most I’ve ever heard a person repeat the same couple of questions phrased in different ways in one single short conversation. I guess I finally passed though since I did get let into the country. Either that or those Canadians aren’t as pesky with visitors as the border officers let on 😉

I did a variation of the same presentation that I did in November for the Swedish BizTalk User Group. “A few things about mapping”, since mapping is one of those areas that I see so often used and yet so often misunderstood or at least poorly understood as far as the underlying mechanics and usage patterns.

The presentation is uploaded here. Oh and even if the weather was way colder than necessary (as in thank good for the art of chemistry and little hand warmers) I had a really good time skiing in Banff and Sunshine. Thanks everyone for a great time in Calgary, especially Kent and Melissa 🙂

As far as summit goes it was just great to see everyone again. And it was great to see the leaps Microsoft are taking in the cloud services area. This years summit had a better session layout than last years, and all in all better, more interactive sessions, with great access to fellow MVPs and Microsoft product groups alike. I almost didn’t make the trip at all, packing and taking in a cab in the neck of time, but that’s another story. I am glad I did!

BizTalk, OpsMgr and Triathlon – What have they got in common?

Canadian BizTalk MVP Kent Weare.

At the 26th of august the BizTalk User Group Sweden had Kent over to deliver two sessions around System Center Operations Manager and its Management Pack for BizTalk Server. The sessions were separated by a networking and food pause and delivered to a group of around 75 people. Together with Johan Hedberg (me!) and 35 others he also completed the Stockholm Triathlon participating in the Microsoft SQL Server Fast Track Team (newspaper slideshow (in swedish) here: http://it24.idg.se/2.2275/1.337297/blott-och-svettigt-for-microsoft) (Named persons not featured). Url of user group event is here. Blog post by Kent is here. Presentation slides can also be found at the BizTalk User Group Sweden site (look in the lower right corner area).
